The Multicultural Youth Development Initiative of Delaware County, referred to as MYDI of Delco, is a structured, skill-based youth empowerment program developed and supported by the Rural Liberia Community Empowerment Program. RLCEP - a community-based, community-oriented and community-focused nonprofit advocacy group — is dedicated to inspiring youth. MYDI was created in 2009 as a youth advocacy network. MYDI aims to represent their interests and provide opportunities for training and job placement for youth from diverse backgrounds and those who work with them.

At MYDI, we welcome any young person regardless of his or her backgrounds. We are committed to working with any young group of people with a specific God’s given talent or skill that we can develop so that they reach their full potential.

Why We Exist

About 30% of young people in the USA are from a diverse background, up to nearly quarter of the total U.S. population. This group of young people have enormous potential to be active participants in the American society as well as our communities, but often face particular challenges in accessing the support and opportunities they need. Their particular needs, distinct from adults and many of their American-born counterparts, often go unrecognized as they are a sub-set of the broader youth and settlement sectors and this can lead to whole lot of social issues for them.

We strongly believe at MYDI, that regardless of your background or where you end up, should never determine your connection or access to opportunity.

MYDI work with local colleges and institutions to help kids in its programs network enroll.

Youth Leadership Development
MYDI supports youth in developing the ability to analyze their strengths and weaknesses in setting up professional & personal goals in reaching their full potential.

Community Relation Building Skills
Through our relation-building focus, we form a strategic partnership with our local law enforcement community to bridge the trust and public relation gaps.

Youth Volunteerism
Our youth periodically get involved with other community groups by volunteering their times.
